Abstract: Abstract Despite the fact that diffusion theory was introduced several decades earlier, we still don’t seem to truly understand how the phenomenon impacts our society. In recent years many researchers, including Rogers, the father of diffusion theory, have called for renewed interest in diffusion research. One domain as discussed in this proposal which can benefit from better understanding of diffusion is the field of healthcare, specifically improvements in understanding adoption and diffusion process for health information technology (HIT). Due to various factors including changing demographics, the US healthcare delivery system is facing a crisis; and having realized this government and private entities are pouring support into advocating HIT adoption-related research amongst other initiatives.
