Chapter Chapter 1 in Large-Scale Land Investments in Least Developed Countries, 2017, pp 1-31 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The rationale for this book is based on the increasing relevance of agricultural Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as a political priority for the global investment agenda since 2008. FDI has been promoted by the international community as a tool to improve food security and the production of biofuels. It is also expected that agricultural FDI will have positive effects on poverty reduction and development. Repercussions of expanded agricultural FDI include conflicts in the area of international law (IL).
