Abstract: Abstract The paper attempts to evaluate household’s climate change vulnerability and identify its determinants in Purulia, a drought-prone district in West Bengal. For vulnerability assessment, we have followed Livelihood Vulnerability Index along with its modified versions. Primary data was gathered in 2018 from 150 households across four villages in Purulia through structured surveys. The resulting vulnerability index for the sampled households averaged at 0.6987, highlighting substantial variation in vulnerability across households: approximately half of the sample exhibited high vulnerability, 47% moderate, and only 3% low. Using an ordered logit model, socio-economic and environmental factors were identified as significant contributors to household vulnerability. The findings suggest vital policy implications for reducing poverty and vulnerability and enhancing livelihood resilience.
