Abstract: Abstract Howard Raiffa has been a pioneer in all aspects of the decision sciences. His path breaking research has advanced the forefront of statistical decision theory, game theory, decision analysis, behavioral decision theory, risk analysis, and negotiation analysis. While serving as Harvard University’s Frank P. Ramsey Professor of Managerial Economics, Howard authored and co-authored a series of seminal books that formed the basis of the decision sciences. Howard helped establish the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, had a key role in the negotiations that created the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and served as its first director. Among other honors, he received the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA) Lanchester Prize for best publication in Operations Research (OR), and the Decision Analysis Society Frank P. Ramsey Medal for outstanding contributions to decision analysis. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering.
