Chapter Chapter 15 in Health Care Benchmarking and Performance Evaluation, 2014, pp 239-264 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Chapter 14 introduced various performance models for other health care providers that serve the patient needs including dialysis centers, community mental health centers, community-based youth services, organ procurement organizations, aging agencies, dental providers, radiology providers, substance abuse treatment providers, free clinics, rehabilitation providers, ambulatory surgery centers, and oncology care. In addition to those, there are other DEA models designed to evaluate health care provider performance from both efficiency and effectiveness (quality) perspectives for specific treatments, including stroke, mechanical ventilation, perioperative services, physicians in hospital settings, hospital-acquired infections, hospital mergers, hospital closures, hospital labor, hospital services in local markets, geographic hospital clusters, critical care hospitals, faith-based hospitals and so forth (Hollingsworth 2003, 2008). These additional models are presented below.
