Chapter Chapter 2 in Facility Location Under Uncertainty, 2024, pp 11-36 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter reviews several well-known classes of facility location problems. These include problems with direct allocation (a demand node is served directly from a facility), problems with routing decisions (a demand node is served as part of a route), and hub location (there is a commodity to be shipped among different pairs of demand nodes). The emphasis is on modeling aspects, but references are provided regarding state-of-the-art solution algorithms. The chapter also covers models for handling unexpected facility disruptions, which include interdiction models and fortification.
