Chapter 12 in Multi-Criteria Decision Making with Partial Preference Information, 2026, pp 217-230 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents the FITradeoff for Sorting Problematic, detailing how the method deals with multi-criteria sorting problems. FITradeoff works by seeking an ordinal classification of the alternatives; i.e., classes are defined in an ordinal way, from the best (into which the most preferred alternatives should be assigned) to the worst (into which the least preferred alternatives should be assigned). Particular features of FITradeoff for the sorting problematic are approached, such as profiles definition, mathematical model for sorting alternatives, holistic evaluation, and sensitivity analysis for this problematic. The decision process with FITradeoff for sorting is then summarized at the end of the chapter, considering an overall view of how the FITradeoff DSS works when dealing with sorting problems.
