Chapter 8 in Multi-Criteria Decision Making with Partial Preference Information, 2026, pp 133-148 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The Flexible and Interactive Tradeoff method is a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making/Aiding (MCDM/A) method used to elicit scaling constants in the context of Multi-Attribute Value Theory (MAVT). The FITradeoff method is considered as flexible since DMs can express their preferences using two different paradigms for preference modeling, namely elicitation by decomposition and holistic evaluation. In addition, features are included in the FITradeoff Decision Support System to make the process easier. The method is also considered interactive, since it combines users’ actions with computational actions in the decision process. This chapter describes the Decision Process with FITradeoff Method in order to support Decision Makers (DMs) in solving problems that present multiple conflicting objectives in a deterministic context.
