Abstract:
Abstract This research investigates the engagement mechanism of college student volunteers in community environmental education (CEE) within China’s modernization drive and the pursuit of harmonious human-nature coexistence. Integrating cognitive processes, individual behavior, and societal influences, a theoretical framework is developed based on the cognition-investigation-service model. The framework underscores the roles of community environmental values, investigation, and empowerment in shaping college student volunteers’ commitment to CEE. Through empirical analysis, the study validates hypotheses that community environmental education cognition positively influences service behavior and perception of investigation. The findings align with existing literature, reinforcing the significance of cognitive processes, perceptions, and behaviors in driving environmental initiatives. Insights gleaned from this study offer strategies to promote effective community environmental education, emphasizing the importance of fostering positive attitudes and enhancing perceptions among college student volunteers.
