Chapter Chapter 3 in Dial-A-Ride Problems in Transportation Service, 2024, pp 33-73 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides an introduction to the field of dial-a-ride problems by outlining relevant terms and definitions. It then proceeds to present a brief literature review, which shows the publications and research streams of recent years. Moreover, different modeling techniques for exact methods are presented, with a particular focus on the application of branch-and-cut methods. Finally, some ingredients for solving the problem using heuristics are outlined. The definitions and explanations form a relevant basis for the upcoming investigations.
