Abstract: Abstract Although there are a few empirical research into the dispute problem in the Chinese construction industry, the causes and effective resolution methods are unknown in the context of COVID-19 pandemic. To investigate the causes and resolutions of construction disputes in China, this research employs the methods of literature review, questionnaire survey and interview. 93 professionals’ viewpoints were used for empirical analysis. The results indicate that the COVID-19 (4.20) has a significant impact on construction disputes, and contractual causes (4.00) are the most common disputes. Diverse stakeholders’ perceptions of the causes of construction disputes varied significantly. Furthermore, most disputes are resolved by negotiation (35.5%) and mediation (49.5%). This research provides professionals with invaluable insights into construction dispute’s types and dispute resolution systems. Moreover, it allows the various construction stakeholders to understand and take into consideration the perceptions of other participants when applying risk and dispute prevention techniques.
