Abstract: Abstract This book is an empirical investigation into land development in Japan based on a case study of the Tamagawa Zenen Land Readjustment Association that was active in a suburban area of Tokyo during the period before, during, and after the second world war. The author pays special attention to changes in the principles of social organization that the case study reveals.
