 Inequality among the poor in poverty measure case of Tunisia (2005–2010)OPSEARCH, 2016, vol. 53, issue 2, No 12, 409-425 Abstract: Abstract Poverty and inequality are inextricably linked. That’s because poverty is a relationship between poor people and the society in which they live. The analysis of income inequality and poverty are well established research fields in the economic literature (e.g., Atkinson in Top incomes: a global perspective. Oxford University Press, Oxford, 2010). The present paper contributes to this line of research by proposing, using fuzzy set theory, a new integrated method for measurement unidimensional poverty via the inequality. An application using individual well-being data from Tunisia households in 2005 and 2010 is presented. Implications of findings and policies that would reduce socio-economic inequalities in order to improve population wellbeing are deduced.
