Abstract: Abstract With the rapid advancement of information and communication technologies, websites have become the pivotal instruments to the tourists to search or explore information for a particular destination and accordingly schedule or plan their tours. The increasing roles of these websites in distributing value-added and timely information highlight the requirements to investigate how the tourists interact with those websites and what should be the desired features in a good tourism website. Hence, there is a constant demand that the tourism providers must ensure the efficiency, integrity and appropriateness of the tourism websites through a proper evaluation procedure. To fulfill this objective, this paper proposes an integrated approach for assessment of the tourism websites of the Indian states. The input-oriented Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (CCR) model of data envelopment analysis is first adopted to screen out the inefficient Indian states based on their efficiency scores. The weights of the evaluation criteria are subsequently determined using interval rough number (IRN)-based step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) method. Finally, the shortlisted tourism websites of the Indian states are ranked applying IRN-multi-attributive border approximation area comparison (MABAC) method. Himachal Pradesh and Odisha have the two best tourism websites, while the websites of Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh are under-designed. The well-designed tourism websites may now act as the benchmarks to those Indian states to improve the drawbacks of their under-designed websites.
