Abstract: Abstract A science base for digital governance includes concepts, theories and principles derived from established and emerging sciences, with a view to long-term repeatable transformation, as opposed to short-term solution provision. The overall objective in creating and establishing the Digital Governance and Transformation Science Base is to formulate and structure the knowledge gained through pragmatic research in the domain during the previous several decades and beyond. Such a scientific background would document the existing knowledge and open the pathway for systematic and reproducible solutions to identified problems, without the danger of repeating research or missing opportunities for application. Taking as a basis the reference work from researchers in the area along with the results of the Digital Government Reference Library (DGRL), this chapter contributes to the scientific foundations of digital governance and the systematic description of this domain, through setting the overall structure, the research areas and the relations among them. As the DGSB domain structure is simple but flexible enough to be convincingly deep if needed, allowing different analysis levels with different views and myriads of different viewpoints, the present chapter also concludes to ontological documentation and visualisation.
