Abstract:
Abstract The aim of this contribution is the identification of healthcare expenditures’ drivers in the Czech Republic in this case by monitoring differences between medical segments in the period of years 2000–2016. The paper focuses on changes in the structure of these expenditures and then compares dynamics of chosen components with development of total healthcare expenditures for the verification of potential causes of the continuous growth of total indicator and so on for finding of drivers (factors of growth) of these expenditures. On the basis of this paper was concluded, that the structure of public health costs was very stable, especially when focusing on the main cost categories as inpatient and outpatient care. The key finding is detection of inpatient and outpatient care, ambulance services, medical devices and treatment abroad as healthcare expenditures’ drivers.
