Abstract:
Abstract Saving—according to Keynesian economics, consists of the amount left over when the cost of a person’s consumer expenditure is subtracted from the amount of disposable income he earns in a given period of time. There is a vast number of empirical studies on saving determinants. Since they are devoted to various countries and time periods, they often lead to different findings. The level of savings of households and the form of saving are of great importance for economic growth and financial system development. In this article was presented the situation in Poland which should create a profitable condition for making personal savings because the economy was in good condition and was not hurt by last financial crisis. But it did not happen. Here appears the question why the activity of government to nudge people to make savings was not sufficient, enough. If the situation does not change in next years it could be painful for Polish society and economy.
