Chapter Chapter 14 in Operations Management for Social Good, 2020, pp 141-150 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract We apply process modeling and simulation to improve surgery planning, through the coordination of operation rooms and intensive care unit (ICU). A case study was carried out in a Brazilian hospital. With the proposed changes, we obtained a 39% reduction in surgery cancelations and a 61% decrease in preoperative length of stay.
