Abstract: Abstract External debt and reserves affect the financial vulnerability of a nation through their effect on the capacity of the government to meet international obligations. The paper examines the reserve adequacy of Turkey by employing the traditional approach relating to comparing international reserves with short-term debt used by International Monetary Fund for the period of 2011:Q3–2018:Q4. In the analysis, the data obtained from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Electronic Data Delivery System is utilized. Our findings do not support the evidence of reserve adequacy in the relevant period.
