Abstract: Abstract The purpose of the paper is to compare the voivodeships in Poland, based on selected measures of competitiveness. The comparison is conducted using taxonomic methods. To measure competitiveness, the following variables have been selected: the level of GDP per capita, the average monthly gross salary, business density, labour productivity and employment rate. Based on these variables, the overall competitiveness indicator has been determined for each voivodship. To design the general indicator, the method of zero unitarization and construction of the Human Development Index (HDI) were used. The annual data used in the analysis was obtained from the Central Statistical Office and covers the years 2009–2016. The results obtained indicate a decreasing divergence between the levels of voivodship competitiveness (measured by the competitiveness indicator) in the years analysed. The position of individual voivodships in subsequent years did not change significantly. The Masovian Voivodeship was a clear leader in Poland for the entire period under examination, while the Podlasie and the Warmian-Masurian Voivodships came last.
