Abstract:
Abstract The development of digitalization in the last decade has led to a change in many areas of society. The successful functioning of the digital economy is ensured by the development of infrastructure, e-business and e-commerce, including at the regional level. This article discusses the impact of digital technologies on the dynamics of the gross regional product (GRP). The methodological basis of the study is economic and statistical modeling. Research method—determination of coefficients of variation and correlation analysis of indicators of dynamics and volumes of GRP and indicators of the use of digital technologies in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The information base of the study includes data from the Federal State Statistics Service for 2015–2019. on the use of digital technologies and the dynamics and volumes of GRP. Based on the theoretical analysis carried out, the authors conclude that there are two diametrically different concepts on the impact of digitalization processes on the economic development of regions—from complete denial to proof that digitalization in modern conditions is the main tool for the development of economic entities. The results of the statistical study led to the conclusion that at the present stage the use of digital technologies does not affect the differentiation of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in terms of the level of GRP per capita; there are no significant correlations between the growth rate of GRP per capita and indicators of the use of digital technologies. The task was set to identify in further studies a significant characteristic of the socio-economic development of regions, the change in which can be reliably explained by the influence of digitalization of the economy.
