Chapter Chapter 16 in Applied Economic Research and Trends, 2024, pp 265-282 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Blockchain technology has emerged as a disruptive innovation that has the potential to transform various industries, including information systems. With the increasing adoption of blockchain, researchers have explored various aspects of this technology, including its security, scalability, interoperability, and governance. This chapter presents a systematic review of the blockchain research trends in information systems. The study analyzes the research published between 2018 and 2023 in top-tier information systems journals, conferences, and workshops. The findings of this chapter reveal that blockchain research in information systems has primarily focused on three themes: blockchain architecture and infrastructure, blockchain applications, and blockchain governance. The chapter concludes with recommendations for future research in this area.
