A chapter in Navigating Economic Uncertainty - Vol. 1, 2025, pp 55-71 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Entrepreneurship is the execution of ideas. The starting point for developing ideas into a profitable business is a startup. But how do we transition from a startup to a scaleup? One of the factors that challenge the startup to become a scaleup is the implemented business models. In the technological startups, the environment is fast changing and the need to adapt to it needs to be even faster to be successful. To overcome this struggle, there are business model innovations (BMI), modified to fit accordingly. This research examines the usage of the lean startup approach (LSA) and agile development (AD) in correlation with the startup’s success over operational time, intending to propose a unified BMI framework for digital startups that will ensure the transition to a scaleup.
