Abstract: Abstract This study aims to understand visitors’ perspectives on the importance of interpretation in enhancing heritage offerings and the tourist experience. We chose the Castelo Neighbourhood in Lamego, Portugal, as our case study. Methodologically, a quantitative approach was employed, using a questionnaire administered to 106 visitors, with descriptive analysis performed using the SPSS software. The results provided a deeper understanding of visitors in terms of their sociodemographic profile and shed light on which interpretation methods they value most. Based on the collected data, we offered suggestions for improvements to enhance the facilities in the Castelo Neighborhood. This knowledge is essential for aligning offerings with demand in a tourism development context that aims to be sustainable.
