Abstract:
Abstract This paper provides a framework designed to guide tourism industry companies in their transition to the circular economy. The framework was divided into five stages and had seven tools. The five stages were designed to support companies along their circular journey and included awareness, barriers, decisions, implementation, and communication. The seven tools contained a roadmap of circular economy activities conducted by other companies, a needs analysis, examples of good practice, an evaluation of companies’ degree of circularity, and the means to communicate the advances and training that companies need. A questionnaire with fifteen open questions was put together to assess the tools and six experts participated in the evaluation. The questions involved recommendations and conclusions about each tool, and answers were examined through content analysis to organise the information by codes. The results yielded comprehensive assistance to help companies reflect on a series of considerations before implementing the seven tools.
