Abstract: Abstract The aim of this study is to explore the implementation of teamwork in teaching Russian to Chinese students at A2 level. The research includes embracing the history and specific features of teamwork regarding language teaching and the role of national mentality and language environment. The researchers proposed a scale to assess both students’ development of the Russian language and their personal self-esteem and feelings. Students proved to show more willingness to speak Russian fluently and use Russian in their conversations and an increase in self-assurance after the teamwork method applied at the lessons. A comparative study held in two groups of students showed academic results higher within the group teamwork applied. The researchers conducted the poll on crucial stages of the research. Authentic Russian texts also contributed to the research success as they provoked interest among students. Our results show that using texts that are interesting to young people can increase their motivation and the convenience and effectiveness of learning. Debating skills are improved by using such discussion materials, which elicit students’ desire to express perspectives on related topics.
