Abstract: Abstract The article considers the processes of transformation of competition and competitive relations in trade. The theory of competition as a subject of research was transformed under the influence of the development of scientific thought, new research and discoveries, but at the same time, the theory of competition was formed and transformed under the influence of the external environment and features of social development. In internal trade, competition and competitive relations are also determined by the conditions of external and internal environment. The transformation processes of competition, which determined the transformation of trade, increased the importance and influence of trade on social reproduction. Trade is both the organizer of commodity circulation and the organizer of the market, there is an interdependence of the transformation of competition and trade. An important aspect of the development of domestic trade is to achieve the goals of sustainable development of organizations operating in this area. The postulates of adaptive competition development can be traced in domestic trade by increasing the number of trade objects and subjects of activity, integration processes in wholesale and retail trade, electronic and traditional trade. Sustainability of trade organizations in modern conditions is conditioned by effective adaptation to rapid changes in the external environment through profitable activities in the long term. Provision of effective activity simultaneous with the manifestation and development of adaptive competition in trade is conditioned by the development of new types of trade organizations. At the same time, it should be noted that the new typing of trade organizations has a significant impact on the formation of social effects and the achievement of sustainable development goals. On the one hand, the social effect is manifested in the improvement of working conditions of trade organizations’ employees through the deepening of labor specialization and increasing the importance of obtaining new labor competencies. On the other hand, the social effect through the development of new types of trade organizations is conditioned by the improvement of trade service quality, development of new standards of trade and technological processes and better satisfaction of consumers’ demand. In this regard, it becomes relevant to study how the adaptation of economic entities of trade in economic and social aspects takes place. On the one hand, compliance with the typing criteria largely determines the efficiency of trade organizations, on the other hand, the typing of trade enterprises determines the formation and development of formats of trade organizations. The article reveals the modern directions of the country’s internal trade development, analyzes the trends of trade development in Russia, and argues the characteristics of new types of trade enterprises. The proposed characteristics of the “new” types of retailers Pop-Up Store, Temporary Shop, Caskit, Concept Store, Sunday Up Market, Showroom, and Dark Store should be attributed to the results of the study. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying the proposed characteristics of typification in order to reduce costs, improve the efficiency of the organization of channels of goods movement, trade and technological processes, assortment and pricing policy.
