Abstract:
Abstract The purpose of this study is to compare the interregional differences in household incomes in the territories of China and Russia; in terms of economic development, the countries have both similar and different parameters. The study subjects were 31 provinces of China and 85 regions of Russia. The analysis of income sources across countries showed that in China households are focused on receiving income from business activities, and in Russia from social payments. Calculating the Per Capita Income ratio (further – PCI) for 2015–2022 revealed a gradual convergence of the income levels of China and Russia. At a regional level, PCI analysis determined that from 2015 to 2022 the difference in income between provinces decreased in China, while in Russia it increased. An additional comparison of the Minimum-to-average wage ratio (%) in the territories of Russia and China leads to a conclusion about a more substantial differentiation of economic indicators for the regions of the Russian Federation. As a result, the authors concluded that trends in changing disproportions in household income in China and Russia differ.
