Abstract:
Abstract The number of individuals with diverse needs is increasing, resulting in significant growth in accessible tourism. Greece should prioritise this sector to enhance its strong tourism industry further. Including people with disabilities (PwD) in tourism experiences provides significant social and economic benefits for all stakeholders. To achieve this, it is essential to provide adequate services that meet the specific needs of these individuals. Accessible beaches are a crucial aspect of accessible tourism. This study focuses on the Patriotic Foundation for Social Welfare and Perception (PIKPA) beach, located in the Voula suburb of Athens, which provides various friendly services for individuals with disabilities. The beach served as a model for other beaches in Greece by introducing valuable services. This study examines the specific beach to provide insights applicable across the country for attracting visitors with particular characteristics. Implementing a holistic approach is essential to provide comprehensive services for all individuals with disabilities visiting a beach. This study offers valuable insights for practitioners, policymakers, and academics.
