Abstract: Abstract Crises serve as catalysts for re-evaluating national frameworks, strengthening resilience, and shaping innovative recovery strategies. The European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), introduced as part of the NextGenerationEU initiative, plays a central role in supporting Member States. To counteract the impact of the health crisis, the Commission has facilitated financial support for structural adjustments and targeted investment. In Romania, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) ensures a balanced approach to national priorities, investments, and reforms. Local public authorities have been actively involved, contributing to project calls and overseeing the plan’s monitoring and evaluation. This article explores the impact of NRRP investments on Romania’s SMEs sector. It also investigates the mechanisms through which these reforms and investments can be implemented, with a focus on statistical data, recent developments, and the ongoing effects of both the health crisis and the geopolitical tensions in Romania’s vicinity.
