Abstract: Abstract Innovation and entrepreneurship programs play a key role in the development of STEM skills, which are essential for global competitiveness. In Chile, the low rate of researchers engaged in R&D has driven the implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening these competencies, highlighting the role of universities in their deployment. Within this context, this research aims to evaluate the impact of university initiatives on the development of STEM skills through a case study at the University of Santiago of Chile. Through semi-structured interviews with academics and participants, seven key practices were identified that enhance skills such as innovation, leadership, and problem-solving, while also fostering interdisciplinarity, gender inclusion, and the formation of collaborative networks. This study provides a significant contribution to the research on STEM skill development by offering valuable insights that establish a direct connection between the practices that constitute a given initiative and the development of specific STEM competencies.
