Abstract:
Abstract The metaverse is transforming industries through AI, blockchain, gaming, and VR/AR. While academia explores its theoretical foundations, industry discourse—captured in news media—focuses on real-time innovations, corporate strategies, and market trends. Using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), this study analyzes 9,790 news articles to identify 13 key themes, including AI-driven advancements, data privacy, venture capital, and workforce dynamics. A comparison with a literature-based topic modeling study (Park et al., 2024) reveals overlaps in AI, blockchain, and gaming but highlights gaps in workforce transformation, commercialization, and regulation. This study underscores the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to align academic research with industry realities.
