Abstract: Abstract The aim of this research is an analysis of the spatial differentiation in access to health benefits in rural areas in Poland and its consequences for the state of health of the population. We have tested three hypotheses: (H1) the accessibility to healthcare benefits in rural areas is regionally diversified; (H2) the availability of health services has not improved in the analysed period; (H3) the availability of healthcare services affects the population’s state of health. Basing on Perkal’s method, we have proved that access to health care is regionally diversified and this differentiation is stable in the period of analysis. We have also found weak relationship between the state of health of the population and the level of access to healthcare services. Regardless of the existing regional diversity, particular concern has arisen by the fact that most of the regions have not applied effective health policy, which would lead to the improvement in access to benefits for rural residents.
