Chapter Chapter 1 in Leveraging Emerging Technologies and Analytics for Empowering Humanity, Vol. 2, 2025, pp 1-24 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Sustainability is the talk of the town now. Sustainability can only be achieved by taking stringent steps. With sustainability at its core, this conceptual paper aims explores whether it can be achieved through the convergence of human resource and information technology practices. Green Information Technology (Green IT or Green Computing) aims to minimize the environmental footprint of technology with the use of various strategies like energy efficiency, electronic waste reduction and sustainable sourcing. Green Human Resource Management (Green HRM) integrates environmental management into HR practices, promoting eco-friendly behaviors and thereby aligning HR strategies with sustainability goals. The convergence of Green IT and Green HRM can lead to organizational sustainability, cost reduction and better environmental performance. This paper introduces the term Green Techno HRM which refers to the integration of environmentally sustainable practices and advanced technologies within the realm of human resource management. Green Techno HRM encompasses a wide range of strategies including the use of digital communication tools, virtual collaboration platforms and data analytics to support green HR practices. These practices include remote work, paperless operations, and energy-efficient workflows.
