Abstract:
Abstract Significant structural changes have been observed in the global landscape. Amidst the unpredictable global scenario, India stands out as a growing powerhouse driving global growth. To ensure a sustainable economy, the focus should remain on agriculture, rural banking, and rural finance. Agriculture plays an important role in the Indian economy, showing resilience during the pandemic and economic downturns. It is crucial for agricultural productivity to have access to institutional credit at reasonable rates. Increased investments are needed to sustain growth in the agriculture and rural sectors. Developing resilient rural financial institutions (RFIs) is critical to overcoming challenges. Climate change poses a threat to Indian agriculture. There is an opportunity for India to lead in the digital economy. The Fintech sector in India is growing rapidly due to market size, innovation, and government support. The paper highlights key aspects of sustainable development in rural India.
