Abstract:
Abstract This chapter presents the basic concept of cybersecurity relevant to the healthcare industry, including threats, attacks, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures for preventing cyberattacks and protecting patient data. The chapter begins by discussing contemporary cyberattacks such as malware, phishing and social engineering, ransomware, distributed denial of service, and insider threats with the potential best practices. It then explores the general cybersecurity design principles and CIA model for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of healthcare data. The chapter proceeds with cybersecurity regulations and laws that are applicable in the jurisdiction and compliance. Lastly, it discusses the various cybersecurity training and development methods for healthcare professionals.
