Abstract:
Abstract The chapter on advanced management information systems delves into the intricate dynamics of innovation and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the role of digital technologies in disrupting and transforming traditional business models. It highlights how innovation, driven by technologies such as AI, IoT, and Big Data, plays a pivotal role in reshaping industries by enhancing efficiency, enabling real-time decision-making, and creating new business models. Key frameworks such as Christensen’s Disruptive Innovation Theory, Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovations, and Chesbrough’s Open Innovation are discussed to demonstrate how businesses can leverage external and internal resources to foster innovation. The chapter also explores the Technology S-Curve Model, Innovation Value Chain, and Stage-Gate systems, providing a systematic approach to managing the innovation process from ideation to market entry. Through case studies, including N26’s transformation of the banking industry, the chapter showcases real-world applications of these theories, illustrating the importance of strategic agility in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Challenges such as regulatory constraints, ethical considerations, and sustainability are also addressed, emphasizing the need for companies to navigate complex environments effectively. Overall, the chapter equips readers with both theoretical frameworks and practical insights to harness technological advancements and drive innovation in the modern digital economy.
