Abstract:
Abstract The interplay between energy, social sustainability, and the economic and environmental dimensions has prompted energy operators to explore various challenges associated with energy operations. This study focused on optimizing the performance of energy microgrids, factoring in economic and environmental metrics for day-ahead planning. The proposed microgrid features a combination of hybrid energy resources, which include power, heat, and hydrogen systems. The objective functions are designed as multi-objective functions that aim to reduce emissions while maximizing the microgrid’s profitability, all while taking into account the energy purchases made by consumers. Furthermore, the research suggests implementing demand response modeling on the consumer side, which is based on shifting demand to enhance energy management. The success of this demand-side management (DSM) modeling is dependent on the pricing dynamics within the energy market, enabling consumers to adjust their energy consumption from high-price periods to those with lower prices. Ultimately, to validate the aforementioned approach some case studies were compared, and the results show optimal scheduling of operational costs, emissions, and demand using the proposed method.
