Chapter Chapter 1 in Asymmetric Environmental Governance in Azerbaijan, 2021, pp 1-27 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter briefly introduces the research problem and locates it in the broader context of the environmental governance regarding oil pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, the main tenets of five theories or concepts—rentier state, path dependence, un-politics of pollution, international pressure and public goods—are explained. This chapter talks about the conceptual framework and hypotheses that guide the research, based on the inferences from these theories as presented in the chapter. The last section of the chapter explains the methodology used in this research; it sheds light on how data was collected and used in this book.
