Chapter Chapter 4 in Asymmetric Environmental Governance in Azerbaijan, 2021, pp 81-98 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter starts with discussing how corruption is correlated with environmental problems. It presents and analyzes the Corruption Perception Index of Transparency International for Azerbaijan for 1999–2020. Then it discusses anti-corruption measures and examines their effectiveness. Finally, it explores regulations and measures that have been constraining the activities of the civil society. This part of the book looks at the Civil Society Organizations Sustainability Index of the United States Agency for International Development and what it has to say on Azerbaijan. It illustrates the worsened legal, organizational as well as financial conditions for the performance of the civil society organizations in the country.
