Chapter Chapter 5 in Populist Governance in Brazil, 2022, pp 77-98 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract “Variable properties of populisms in the Bolsonaro government” is divided into four subsections: The use of political and religious moralism; Of the unserved use and impulsion of disinformation and fake news; The polarization of policy; The militarization of politics. We have demonstrated the populist movement has formal, informal, direct, and indirect aspects that constitute variable properties of populisms. These are strategies commonly used in different specific contexts and are intended to increase the political strength of the populist movement. In Bolsonaro’s populist movement, it was also found with an intensity the use of political and religious moralism, the unbridled impetus for misinformation and fake news, the polarization of politics, and the militarization of politics.
