Chapter Chapter 9 in Global Business in Local Culture, 2018, pp 99-110 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This final chapter does not just contain a review of the content of the prior chapters, but also discusses the potential negative impact of MNEs that are mainly concerned with the compliance of one-size-fits all sustainability standards in low income countries. They tend to render local knowledge, local priorities and local expertise irrelevant. It is therefore time to learn again to listen to local people and to let them speak on their own behalf in the global debate. The chapter illustrates this by means of a concrete story in Ethiopia that could provide the foundation of a new narrative on global business in local culture.
