Chapter Chapter 1 in The Complex Environments of Special Economic Zones, 2025, pp 1-8 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Scholars and researchers have put a greater focus in recent years on the development of special economic zones (SEZs) as an effective way to stimulate employment, investment, and economic growth via economic benefits and tax incentives. Relationships among various institutional actors (national and local governments, agencies, public and private organisations, etc.) are vital for promoting innovation, boosting development, and enhancing competitiveness, according to international experience. While most of the research focuses on the financial implications of SEZs, there is a lack of studies examining the influence of other features (such as governance, management, actor involvement, institutional framework, and so forth) on the achievement of these specialised fields. As a result, analysing the governance mechanism and the role of the actors within the network since the emergence is intriguing.
