Chapter Chapter 4 in Government Austerity and Socioeconomic Sustainability, 2015, pp 25-34 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Various general categories of austerity measures as well as the specific policy actions adopted by a sample set of countries are summarized for highlighting relevant dimensions of socioeconomic sustainability that are affected or potentially influenced for years into the future. The specific government austerity measures including reductions in public spending on social programs suggest lack sufficient attention to the imperatives of socioeconomic sustainability requirements in this context. Substantial reforms are called for.
