Chapter Chapter 12 in Introduction to Combinatorial Optimization, 2022, pp 349-381 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In the real world, there are many set function optimization problems with objective function and/or constraint which is neither submodular nor supermodular. Usually, it is hard to study their approximation solutions. In this chapter, we summarize existing efforts in the literature.
