Chapter 7 in Nonlinear Fractional Optimal Control, 2026, pp 123-142 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The final time in an optimal control problem can be either fixed or free. In this chapter, we consider numerical solution of free final-time delay fractional optimal control problems. By using the time-scaling transformation, this optimal control problem is transformed into the equivalent one with fixed terminal time and variable time-delay. Then, we propose an explicit numerical scheme for solving the transformed fractional time-delay system, which yields the discrete-time fractional optimal control problem. Furthermore, a gradient-based optimization approach is developed to solve the resulting discrete-time optimal control problem. Finally, numerical results for two example problems show the effectiveness of the developed algorithm.
