Abstract: Conclusions I set out to explore’ synergy’ in teams and its place in the world of ‘meeting common objectives’ (in projects, that being where I come from) and the effects of a change in mind set in the population with a philosophical slant that calls itself ‘post-modernism’. As a label, this is a useful hook on which to hang some ideas about thinking, and they have been summarised here. Post-modern thinking is not an isolated occurrence in the 1st.world. Many people — including you and I — think in this way and exhibit these characteristics. Generally I conclude that project managers need to give some thought to both socialisation and lettering about team working. That there is the possibility that they will become more difficult to achieve and thus team working, and synergy, will also become more difficult to achieve. An extended form of team building may well form one route to synergy and some idea on that topic have been put forward from various sources. Team building already happens, more thought needs to be given to it, to ensure that it encompasses socialisation as well as building, and produces people who are able to work together even in this post-modern age.
