Abstract: Conclusion It has been maintained for decades that it is a good idea to promote synergy between Western and Eastern approaches to sociotechnical systems management. But so far, mutual learning and synergy, other than simply ‘importing’ and ‘inserting’, have proved to be difficult, however desirable. The case reported in this paper can be seen as our attempt to take part in such a promising yet challenging endeavour, to make a real difference, however small or tentative. We have reasons to expect significant development and synergy in multiperspective approaches in the new millennium.
