Abstract:
Abstract Steady-state problems of plane elasticity are studied in this chapter. These problems involve two dependent variables u and v, which are each functions of x and y. The finite element method is therefore accordingly modified, since each node has two degrees of freedom. The stiffness matrix and the load vector for a linear constantstrain triangular element and a bilinear rectangular element are derived, and some steady-state plane elasticity boundary value problems are solved.
