Abstract: Abstract Kevin Deppermann joined Monsanto in 1978 as an electronic technician after graduating from Ranken Technical Institute in St. Louis. Prior to that, Deppermann served in the US Army, working on e lectronics in the fixed secure voice communications and data security center. He is now the chief engineer and a Monsanto Senior Fellow leading the Chemistry Crop Analytics & Automation and Engineering Team. In over 33 years with Monsanto, he has developed new innovative instrument processes and machines, which have accelerated Monsanto’s breeding, biotech, chemistry, and manufacturing pipelines. Examples of these are the development of large-scale MRI oil-analysis processes; seed-chipping systems for soy, corn, cotton, melon, and wheat; and associated automation with the scalability to transform future plant breeding.
